When i enter the MIDI setup window, i get 4 icons. I know what you are saying when you mentioned that it has to have an external sound device or soft synth for the oxygen 8 to control, but shouldn't it still be able to record MIDI DATA (regardless of whether you can hear it or not)?Īs far as the interface/synth device separation problem i was talking about, let me be more specific.

I also have REASON 2.5, which i haven't yet tried to connect in this capacity (I have successfully rewired it to pro tools, and also successfully imported/exported both audio/MIDI files into protools. The gear is just MBOX and a USB oxygen 8 controller (i just want to see if i can record midi data) I have a apple powerbook G4 running the latest version of panther. sorry i didn't include sufficient info, maybe more can help I can try to come up with a better idea of what's going on. If you post some more specific information about the gear you're trying to connect, the connections you're using, your computer, OS, etc. The only way to avoid this is by not using the Oxygen 8's USB connection and using a different, external MIDI interface to connect it with a sound module and your computer. When you connect a device to the Oxygen 8's interface, you are connecting it to the controller as well, and vice versa. This is probably old news, but I had to mention it just in case.Īlso, as you mentioned, the MIDI interface and the MIDI controller parts of the Keystation cannot really be separated, because they are indeed the same thing.

When you say it recognizes th Oxygen 8 as an interface but NOT as a synth device, is it possible that this is because the Keystation isn't a synth device, it's only a controller? You must have an external sound module or software synth for the Oxygen 8 to control. I'm not sure i totally understand what the problem is, but maybe this will help? Forgive me if I'm way off target.
